They are not Hermaphrodites. They're monosexed like Mass Effect's Asari. Technically they're all female if you need to assign a sex to them (which given their biology is ridiculous to even suggest. As none of their reproductive organs are external.) I personally detest the word "Hermaphrodite" and it does not apply to the darnathi. When Darnathi prototype from Base-form to human they have to choose which Gender to present some choose to be male while others Female. And then there's Alex who honestly could be either even as a human. But that's also why all Darnathi from Titan's ship are Flat chested. They're alien amphibious newtcats with no real biological need for mammaries as they don't nurse.

tl;dr: They're not Herms, they're Monosex. Do not use that word in regard to them again.
