Some say that an exact copy would be the same person, others say it wouldn't. It's a good philosophical question, one that people have been fighting with for many years, and even more now as some are working on ways to transfer a brain to a computer.
you can't transfer conciousness though. If I uploaded everything you were onto a computer your conciousness would still remain in your original body. The new copy might also have conciousness but it would not be truly transferrable. The you as you know it would always be in your body. you could probably transfer the copy back to you and get it's memories etc but your conciousness can't transfer. It's still just. a. copy. It's not the original and it never will be.
And this is how it works specifically with the Darnathi and their memory chips. The true consciousness doesn't transfer from one individual to their copied memories put on a chip.
