Guys stop... His daughter is RIGHT THERE beside them. This is not the setup for a "romantic" evening. They are resting and relaxing because everyone there is recovering from a very stressful situation, Darius from an illness and mild poisoning, Fox from being KIDNAPPED, Bane losing paria and Rain afraid she almost lost her father. FFS. I don't know what messed up family situations you think go on in this story but this is not anything more than a family resting together to recover. Darius has that expression because he has a hard time, as a tactician, actually relaxing.

Dires are not a species. They're a Golem construct of their host. And Because the ability to make one has been closely guarded by Fox, the only surviving Dire is Wolfbane. I actually go into detail about Dires in the next chapter.
