Seeing that the airship was on target and stable, and that the rescue group and the sally platform were ready, Mark pressed ahead.

"Helm, let the automation do its work, but monitor closely, we need to stay stable here. Mr. White, lower the Sally Platform and tell crew to let the rescue ladders down. We have 28 crew to get aboard according to Dispatch."

The tiger felt the vibration through the airship's superstructure.

"C'mon gal, hold together, those sailors are counting on us," he said under his breath.

[Archeus]

While monitoring the rescue Archeus had pulled up the Ailani manifest.

"Hmmm looks like she's carrying a large shipment of medical supplies as well as new equipment for the Citadels' hospital." She muttered to herself.

Archeus copied the manifest to her tablet and walked over to Mark. "Urruughh Commander you're going to want to see this. She handed the tablet to him.

"We can't leave that equipment behind. Fortunately it's all in one steel container on the deck. It comes in at 80 tons which is well within our lifting capabilities. But either myself or Garran will have to fly down there to secure the container to the ships winches."

Mark 's concern was apparent on his face as he replied to Archeus.

"With these winds, is that possible? Could the freighter crew secure the lines for the winches?"

After a moment's consideration, he gave a nod, making a command decision.

"If it has to be done by us, then it'll have to be Garran. No offense but his wings are a bit stronger, and we need your expertise up here. We're still learning how to fly this thing."

Garran set the commands to wait for input, and approached Archeus and commander M'Rega.

"I don't know about wing strength, to be honest, but I think Commander is right. Evelyn knows this vessel way better than me."

He scratched his chin. "Let's see... " he looked at the ship depicted on Archeus' tablet. "The container looks standard. I'll get down there from the cargo hold with the crane cables while the chimenticores help with the rescue of the civilians. I'll secure the cables first, but I suggest waiting to lift the container until everyone is safe: we don't want to interfere."

Garran looked at the screens and out of the bridge's window. There were clouds in the distance.

"I need to go and prepare. Controls of the platform are ready, they are just waiting for your order, commander." The sphinx nodded at him and Archeus, and went down to pick up the safety harnesses and life jacket, before running to the cranes.

Mark gave a nod to Garran's plan.

"Go, Mr. White, just be as safe as possible."

Then to his console and comm mic.

"All hands, commence rescue pickup. Lower the platform. Cargo winch crew, prepare to lower lines to lift that large cargo container on the deck. Let's hustle folks, there's weather moving in!"

He eyed the incoming clouds and the capricious winds, concerned about this first real test of the Dressel.

Shard kept his eyes on the Security monitor. Watching as the rescue team descended. He also made sure to keep checking the wind speed indicator. It was moving again.

"Uh commander. The wind speed is picking up again. It seems to be coming with those clouds" he said looking out the main view screen in the pit of his stomach he knew things were going to get worse before the got better. He wished he could do more to help in the rescue, but he had an important job as it was. If he didn't keep his eyes on the wind speed then alterations wouldn't be made in time so accidents would happen and lives could very well be lost.

Archeus watching Garran and seeing that the load had been secured began ramping up the turbine.
At the same time she engaged the sally platform lift.
"She called out to the helm. Gentleman keep an eye on our altitude this is going to put some load on us. Adjust trim as needed."
She continued ramping up the machine. The turbine was beginning to roar. It was giving hint at its unimagined power and the crew could feel the ship starting to vibrate in the floor as the oscillations rang through.

Mark nodded to himself, watching the lift and rescue progress. He felt the turbine powerplant spooling up even before his screen showed him the indication. He heard Archeus' callout and issued a command.

"As soon as the sally platform is stowed and the load is secured, Up ship. I want some altitude to maneuver and turn us into the wind as needed. Then we'll make best speed for Aukate' and the docks there."

He then turned his full attention to the incoming storm. The timing would be very tight, and they would be in unknown territory if the storm turned out to be more than an afternoon thunderstorm.

Garran wore the safety harness and life jacket over the uniform, picked up a walkie-talkie and reached the cranes. As the crew began lowering the steel cables he hopped on one of the large hooks and began the descend, holding all the cables together with an arm to avoid them flailing around with the wind that was picking up.
As he was going down, chimenticores emerged from the side of the vessel like bees from a hive, flying in perfect formation, and dove towards the ship. They began encircling it, and one at a time they darted towards the crew, picked up one of them, and brought them to safety on the belly of the Dressel.

It was an incredible display of skill, and a testament to the chimenticores' jealous monopoly of the sky, that by the time Garran reached the ship only few castaways remained. The wind strength though was increasing and was making it difficult to land on the ship. It was like being on a very long and heavy swing. With powerful beats of the wings Garran finally managed to stabilise the whole thing enough to safely land on top of the container. Waves were causing the ship to roll, and keeping balance was proving a challenge; especially considering that the crane cables were now long enough to be extremely heavy. Grunting and gritting teeth, Garran locked each large hook to one corner of the container, double checking the locks. In one occasion a particularly vicious wave sent him tumbling, and he had to fly to recover the cable.
When the last person was safe on the ship, the sphinx hooked his safety harness to one of the cables and called the bridge with the radio.

"Everything ready. You can lift!"

And with a jolt the cables strained, and with a sinister sound of metal the container was lifted and began ascending.

Dean having mostly recovered from the blue screen mind does his best to go with the flow till he finally realizes he's been silent for a lot longer than he has meant to.  opening his mouth to apologize when the distress call comes in From Noema.
Where do you want me and, what may I do to Help?

Archeus smiling at Dean. "Ah just in the nick of time. We're trimming the power back right now." Archeus activates a second Helm control.
  
"Here yo go Dean.  Razzle has been doing all the Navigation by himself, it's better to have two at the wheel. As Mark calls out orders you can enter them in here." Archeus shows Dean the various Flight and Navigation screens on the computer. "And Razzle is right here beside you He'll be mirroring a lot of the same moves."

"I have all the faith in the world in you Dean. You'll enjoy it."

Archeus back at her Engineering station going over the vibration reports.

"Commander I'll be back shortly." Archeus left the bridge to find Garran.

Down at the foil stabilizers she was looking over the equipment with Garran.

"Well the main turbine is pretty well balanced, we'll have to make a few minor balance moves on it. I'm more concerned with the stabilizers." Archeus was scratching her head. "Hmmmm well looks like the pressure could be raised. What do you think Mr White? The O-rings are rated for 3000 Psi. We're only running 1800 from the skid.

This was a pretty good test run even if it was unplanned.  I'm running a results program right now. If you want why don't we meet back on the bridge in a couple  minuets.

We can figure out what changes need to be made after the rescue. We should be nearly on top of it by now."

Dean turned to Archeus and returned the smile and heads for the controls next to Razzle and with a nod does his best to help. 
when asked for a Weather report he does so as quickly as he can and sends it on it's way, 
then follows the 100 meters instruction of Archeus then stands at the ready to help in any way possible.
