Apex knows that he can break bones or worse by accidentally stepping wrong, and how much damage he can do if he needs to fight.

He would not have signed up as a minion had he been unwilling to fight either.

And while Apex would prefer to not fight like this if he can help it...

The elementals just attempted an assault on The Lair that included a fire-breathing biological whose main method of attack is to burn enemies to cinders.

An attack that was preceded by a "surrender *only those few we will accept* or fight and die" speech.

One of the primary methods of attack from the elementals is also breathing fire, which tends to be lethal or worse.

And then there's the fact that a child has been kidnapped for nefarious ends, on top of the other issues.

This Is War, and war ain't pretty.

This is also a combined counter-attack and rescue mission to end the war too.

Apex isn't holding back here.

He'd rather not fight like this if he can help it, but this isn't one of the times he can help it.
